Experience
Dr. Florencio Quero Valenzuela has worked as Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, where he has specialized in Minimally Invasive Surgery, with a particular focus on VATS Thoracic Surgery. In addition, his career has been characterized by outstanding research work, with numerous projects and a relevant scientific production. In fact, he has been the principal investigator of studies funded by the Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Pulmonologists and Thoracic Surgeons of the South, focused on lung cancer and new experimental therapies.
He has also been a member of the research group Ae22-Cancer Genetics, Biomarkers and Experimental Therapies, and has collaborated on projects funded by the Department of Health and Families of the Regional Government of Andalusia. He has also published 35 articles in prestigious scientific journals and has been a reviewer for journals such as The American Journal of Surgery and Archivos de Bronconeumología. His scientific activity has also included the authorship of a book and chapters of specialized books. Throughout his career, he has received three awards for the best scientific communication at conferences and has been a speaker at numerous national and international events.
