With more than half a hundred awards and recognitions for his research work in the field of General and Digestive Surgery, Dr. Damián García Olmo is an outstanding member of the scientific community. He holds the position of head of the Department of Surgery at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, having also held positions of responsibility in the area of Colorectal Surgery at La Paz Hospital. 

His specialty, precisely, is Colorectal Cancer and Proctology, being one of the pioneers in the clinical use of stem cells in surgical procedures. His research work focuses especially on the transforming capacity of circulating nucleic acids in the plasma of cancer patients.
