Esther Barreiro Portela is a specialist in Pneumology who has a long career in the field of research on topics such as lung cancer, signaling mechanisms of muscle dysfunction or oxidative stress.

Thanks to his constant interest in these fields, he has authored and co-authored hundreds of articles published in scientific journals. She is also a regular speaker at congresses related to Pneumology. 

After a prolific career as a researcher, she has had the opportunity to coordinate the Research Group for the study of muscle wasting and cachexia in chronic respiratory diseases and lung cancer at the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute. Likewise, she has been elected Coordinator of Regulations and Recommendations of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery.
