Dr. Pedro Doménech Fernández is the first Spanish winner of the Innovation Award of the French Society of Orthopedic and Traumatologic Surgery thanks to the presentation of a protocol that reduces the risk of spinal cord and nerve injuries in spine surgery. As such, he has succeeded in opening new avenues for intraoperative diagnosis, which allows an improvement in the safety of the treatment of spinal deformities.
This renowned specialist with more than 20 years of exemplary practice has balanced his practice not only with teaching in the sector, but also with a wide range of international volunteer work, performing countless complex interventions, mainly in children. In this way, he has offered his knowledge in favor of the most disadvantaged, collaborating in various humanitarian missions with foundations such as Children Action and Enfants du Noma, among others.
