With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Fernando Villagrá Blanco is a leading specialist in Cardiovascular Surgery, Head of the Congenital Heart Disease Unit and Head of the Children's Cardiac Surgery Service at HM Montepríncipe University Hospital. 
 
Since his specialization at the University Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, he also carried out international training stays in Coronary Surgery, Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiac Arrhythmia Surgery and Heart Transplantation in the most prestigious hospitals in the United States, as well as at the University of Connecticut. 

He decided to continue in this field by becoming an Expert of the Surgical Block, attached to the General Directorate of Health of the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid and working in clinical research by reviewing his studies in multiple publications in national and international journals and book chapters. In turn, he has held positions in public associations as a member of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Disease or as Secretary General of the Spanish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, among other institutions of which he is an active member such as the International European Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.
