Juan José Badiola Díez is a veterinarian who has focused a large part of his professional career in the academic and scientific field. One of the most outstanding experiences of his career is his role as a researcher in Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, a phenomenon known as "mad cow disease", where he is considered an international eminence. His knowledge in this field catapulted him to the Advisory Group of the European Commission's Research Directorate on Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies.
In addition to his excellent research career, he is also an outstanding figure in the world of teaching. After years of university teaching in studies related to veterinary medicine, he became a professor. In addition, he has been President of the General Council of Veterinary Associations of Spain and member of the editorial boards of relevant international scientific journals.
