  • Use postmortem signs such as rigor mortis, livor mortis, body temperature, and decomposition to estimate the time since death
  • Identify and analyze traumatic injuries on the body to determine their nature and possible relationship with the death
  • Collect and preserve physical evidence from the body, such as tissues, bodily fluids, or foreign objects

Forensic Sexology

  • Perform detailed physical examinations of sexual assault victims to document injuries, collect biological evidence, and provide immediate medical care
  • Evaluate physical and genitourinary injuries in individuals, determining their nature
  • Conduct tests for sexually transmitted diseases in victims and suspects, providing appropriate treatment if necessary
  • Write comprehensive reports that include findings from the physical examination, laboratory test results, and conclusions about the nature of the assault for later use in legal proceedings

Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine

  • Analyze if the person is competent to stand trial, understanding legal procedures and being able to participate in their defense
  • Determine if a defendant had the mental capacity to understand the nature and consequences of their actions at the time of the crime
  • Assess the risk of an individual committing violent acts in the future
  • Establish a subject’s capacity to make important decisions, such as consenting to treatments, managing property, or caring for themselves

  • Carry out detailed assessments to determine the degree of temporary or permanent disability resulting from injuries
  • Assess the psychological and emotional impact of traumatic events (such as accidents, assaults, or abuse) and determine the existence of disorders
