Se detallan los parámetros mínimos de cada una de ellas dependiendo del sistema estructural, así como sus diferentes elementos, sin olvidar la importancia de la soldadura y su metodología de cálculo.
También se mostrarán las cargas a las que está sometido el barco, tanto internas como externas, las llamadas cargas de mar, y las propias cargas especificas por tipo de barco; así como las diferentes secciones del buque con su correspondiente morfología y metodología de cálculo, no sin olvidar los planos, los llamados planos clave y los diferentes tipos de detalle dentro de los mismos. Por último, se detallarán las distintas estructuras anexas a la principal del buque, tales como rampas, grúas, helipuertos, elementos de propulsión y generadores de energía, sin olvidar los elementos de fondeo y amarre.
