Las aves rapaces o de presa se han criado y manejado durante muchos años en diferentes culturas principalmente para actividades de cetrería. Actualmente se han creado más centros de recuperación de aves provenientes del tráfico ilegal de especies, por la degradación de su hábitat o por una mala crianza. Su uso en las intervenciones asistidas es reciente y aún no hay estudios relevantes sobre su efectividad, principalmente de tipo terapéutico.  

Este programa desarrolla una metodología alternativa para el uso de las aves en estado de cautividad para generar beneficios tanto en humanos como en las mismas aves, no sin antes entender cuáles son las características de la especie que se desarrollan en un medio natural. 

A lo largo de estas semanas de capacitación el alumno desarrollará las competencias transversales a nivel teórico y práctico, específicas tanto en la terapia con diferentes tipos de pacientes como en el manejo de aves utilizadas en las IAA.
