José Luis Merino Llorens, PhD in Cardiology, is one of the leading experts in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in Spain. His excellent work has allowed him to have a high international recognition in catheter ablation of complex forms such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and ventricular tachycardia. He has put these skills into practice with his patients in centers such as the University Hospital La Paz, where he has been in charge of the Arrhythmia and Robotized Cardiac Electrophysiology Unit.
However, his career is not limited exclusively to the strictly medical field, as he has participated in numerous international multicenter studies on new antiarrhythmic and anticoagulant drugs. As a result, he has written hundreds of scientific articles published in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the European Heart Journal. He has also chaired the Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the European Heart Rhythm Association.
