Dr. Elena Gutiérrez Vílchez has a long career in the Pediatric Nephrology Area, experience that has been recognized when she was appointed Head of the Hemodialysis Service at the Regional University Hospital of Malaga. 

From there she has sought to improve the peritoneal dialysis program and other treatment options for children with chronic kidney disease. Among her numerous publications supported by the Spanish Society of Nephrology are the recommendations on the management of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in renal transplant patients.
