Vicente Vega Ruíz is a prestigious PhD, a program awarded by the University of Cádiz with his thesis Estudio clínico-experimental de la contracción de las mesallas de polipropileno empleadas en la reparación de eventraciones (Clinical-experimental study of the contraction of polypropylene meshes used in the repair of eventrations). In this field, he has supervised several theses and has been a member of numerous thesis tribunals in prestigious national universities. 

He has combined his teaching work with research, making multiple publications in his field, such as Dermolipectomy associated with the surgical treatment of incisional hernias in obese patients and the finding of colon cancer after surgery for acute diverticulitis complicated in a specialty hospital.
