Doctor in Medicine and Surgery, Gerardo Villa Vicente has a versed career in the area of Physical Education and Sports Medicine, experience that has earned him the National Sports Medicine Award in Spain, for his detailed research on the need to implement changes in the way Physical Education classes are taught in Spanish schools.
His work has been focused on the role of physical activity in the achievement and maintenance of good health, so he has been part of important research groups in the field of public health, such as the Parliamentary Commission on the State of Sport of Castilla y León, the Superior Council of Sports or the Spanish Paralympic Committee.
As Professor of Physical and Sports Education, he has directed more than fourteen doctoral theses, three dissertations and thirteen doctoral research works, work that continues.
