En todos los casos posibles, se recomienda el manejo en unidades especializadas llamadas Unidades de Ictus. En ellas se aplican medidas de diagnóstico, cuidados generales, tratamiento específico y control de complicaciones que permiten asegurar la mejor evolución para los pacientes. Para ello es fundamental contar con un equipo de enfermería altamente entrenado.
