D.W. Pine is an international reference in the field of editorial design. As Creative Director of Time magazine, he is in charge of designing, marketing and directing the print runs of one of the most important editorial publications in the world. Over the course of his career, he has designed more than 850 covers and overseen seven "Person of the Year" projects.
In this role, Pine is responsible for designing and producing the cover of Time each week and managing a creative team of more than a dozen art directors, designers, infographic artists and researchers. He also oversees the design of the Time brand, and other digital properties such as Time for Kids.
In addition to his design work, Pine serves as an occasional feature writer for Time magazine and has more than 1,100 published pieces as a staff writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As a speaker, Pine has presented at events and workshops around the world, including the design workshop for journalists in Beijing, China, as well as other high-profile conferences in Europe. He has also presented at conferences, universities and festivals throughout the United States including New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington, D.C., Portland, Tampa and Atlanta.
His work has received dozens of top industry awards, including being named twice to the Folio 100 list (2016 and 2017) and receiving Best Designed Magazine 2013 and Best Cover of the Year 2017 awards from the American Society of Magazine Editors.
