Experience

Dr. Iván Sanz Muñoz is an outstanding scientist, recognized for his contribution to the field of virological monitoring and research in respiratory diseases. In fact, he has held the role of Scientific and Virological Surveillance Manager at the National Influenza Center in Valladolid. Since joining, he has led several initiatives to understand and combat viral diseases of global importance, being an active member of the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS) of the World Health Organization

With a strong academic background, he holds a Doctorate in Health Sciences Research. In this regard, his vast experience has been reflected in more than 45 scientific publications, addressing various aspects of virological surveillance, respiratory virus characterization and serological evaluation. In addition, he has worked as Director and Coordinator of the Influenza Update Conference, an annual event of great relevance for the scientific community

Likewise, his commitment to research has extended beyond his role at the National Influenza Center. As a member of the Institute of Health Sciences of Castilla and León (ICSCYL) and the Center for Biomedical Research in Infectious Diseases (CIBERINFEC), he has contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the field of infectious diseases. In addition, his scientific interests include the study of respiratory viruses such as Influenza, RSV and COVID-19, as well as the development of innovative therapeutic strategies, such as the design of antiviral drugs using CRISPR technology
