Experience
Dr. Alvaro Fernandez Vega Sanz is an eminence in the field of Ophthalmology at national level. He has been appointed Academic Member by the Spanish Medical-Surgical Academy and by the Royal Academy of Medicine of Asturias. He has held the position of President of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology and also President of the National Commission of Ophthalmology. In addition, he is Gold Medal of the College of Physicians of Asturias.
As Deputy Director and Head of the Retina and Vitreous Area of the Fernández-Vega Ophthalmological Institute, he is also Partner and Owner. He personally attends an average of 10,000 retina patients per year at this center and performs 300 to 350 retina/vitreous surgeries. He also develops part of his activity as Principal Investigator of multiple multicenter clinical trials.
