The Honorable Dr. Ricardo Navarro Suay after joining the Spanish Armed Forces decided to pursue his second vocation and study Medicine at the University of Valencia to join the Military Health Corps. He has more than 25 years of experience in the Health Area, stationed at the Rota Naval Base in Cadiz, at the General Air Academy in San Javier, Murcia, at the Military School of Health and at the Central Defense Hospital Gomez Ulla in Madrid.
He specialized in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the University Hospital of La Princesa in Madrid, doing rotations at the University Hospital La Paz in Madrid and in Birmingham, England. He has been able to participate in 12 missions across 4 continents, 2 oceans and in the Mediterranean Sea, integrating international organizations such as NATO, EU and UN performing his duties as a Medical Specialist. In this context, he was one of the Military Anesthesiologists who participated in "Operation Balmis" against the COVID-19 pandemic, both in the military hospital and in the critical care unit of IFEMA.
In accordance with his interests, he considered it essential to focus on teaching and research as an integral part of a doctor's work. For this reason, he cultivated this professional facet by obtaining his doctorate to obtain the program of Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine of Alcalá and in the Ministry of Defense, an organization that has also awarded him for his comprehensive work. In turn, he has authored national and international publications within a research group on Military Medicine, as well as several books, numerous scientific conferences, thesis director and a large number of articles, communications and reflections published by specialized media.
