Oral Comprehension

• Understand concrete everyday or work-related information and identify both the general message and specific details as long as the speech is clearly articulated and with a normal accent 
• Understand the main ideas of clear, standard speech on everyday topics related to work, school or leisure time, including short narratives 
• Generally follow the main ideas of a long discussion going on around them, provided that the discourse is clearly articulated at a standard language level 
• Understand, in general terms, simple and short speeches on everyday topics provided they are delivered with standard and clear pronunciation 
• Understand a lecture or talk that deals with their area of expertise, provided that the subject matter is familiar and the presentation is simple and clearly structured 
• Understand simple technical information, such as operating instructions for frequently used appliances, as well as follow detailed instructions 
• Understand the main ideas of radio news and other simpler recorded material dealing with everyday topics delivered relatively slowly and clearly

• Write simple, cohesive texts on a range of everyday topics within their field of interest, linking a series of different short items in a linear sequence 
• Write simple and detailed descriptions of a range of everyday topics within their specialty 
• Write accounts of experiences, describing feelings and reactions in simple, structured texts 
• Write a description of a specific event, a recent trip, real or imagined, and narrate a story 
• Write very brief reports in conventional format with information about common events and the reasons for certain actions 
• Write short and simple essays on topics of interest. Can summarize, communicate and offer their opinion with a certain degree of confidence on concrete facts related to everyday matters,whether usual or not, in their field of expertise

• Carry out, with a reasonable degree of fluency, a simple description of a variety of topics that are of interest to them, presenting them as a linear sequence of elements

• Know how to carry out a wide range of linguistic functions, using the most common features of these functions in a neutral register. Be aware of the most important rules of courtesy and act appropriately. Be aware of the most significant differences that exist between the customs, usages, attitudes, values and beliefs prevailing in the community in question and their own, and know how to identify such differences. Know how to carry out basic language functions such as exchanging and requesting information and expressing opinions and attitudes in a simple way
• Adapt expression to deal with less common and even difficult situations. Use a wide range of simple linguistic elements with the flexibility to express much of what is wanted
• Participate in debates on everyday topics using an appropriate phrase to take the floor. Initiate, maintain, and conclude simple face-to-face conversations on everyday topics or topics of personal interest 
• Give simple narratives or descriptions, with a reasonable degree of fluency, through a linear sequence of elements
• Linking a series of short, specific and simple elements to create a cohesive, linear sequence

Linguistic Competence 

• Possess sufficient linguistic ability to describe unpredictable situations, to explain the main points of an idea or problem with reasonable accuracy, and to express thoughts on abstract or cultural topics, such as music and movies
• Possess sufficient linguistic ability to get by, and sufficient vocabulary to express themselves with some hesitation and circumlocution on topics such as family, hobbies and interests, work, travel and current events, but lexical limitations lead to repetition and sometimes even difficulties in formulation
• Possess sufficient vocabulary to express themselves with some circumlocution on most topics relevant to their daily lives, such as family, hobbies and interests, work, travel, and current events
• Demonstrate a good command of elementary vocabulary, even if significant errors are made when expressing more complex thoughts, or when dealing with unusual topics and situations
• Communicate with reasonable accuracy in everyday situations; generally have good grammatical control, although with obvious mother tongue influence
• Use, with reasonable accuracy, a repertoire of common “formulas” and structures related to the most predictable situations
• Speak clearly and intelligibly, even if the foreign accent is sometimes evident and occasional mispronunciations are made
• Produce continuous writing that is usually intelligible throughout. Spelling, punctuation and structuring are correct enough to be understood most of the time
