María Elena Sanabria Chópite is a professional of the highest level within the area of Biology, specifically in the applied field and botany. She is an expert scientist with more than 25 years of experience, as well as a broad and diverse academic and professional curriculum. Her interest in research stands out, an activity that has led her to collaborate with numerous academic programs for dissemination through teaching. 

On the other hand, she has presented more than 160 scientific papers in congresses, both national and international and has published more than 80 papers in scientific journals in the area of morphoanatomy, agronomy, taxonomy, etc., highlighting the books: "Key to the trees of the plains of Venezuela based on vegetative characteristics" and "Vascular plants of the mangroves of Sucre state". In addition, in 2018 she received the "Woman in Science" award, granted by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Venezuela.
