In addition to tumors related to classical etiological factors (tobacco and alcohol consumption) we will deal with human papillomavirus (HPV)-related tumors. These tumors have different clinical features and a different therapeutic approach due to their better response to radiotherapy and better prognosis. 

Many of the surgeries required for these patients involve mutilation affecting physical appearance and a very important alteration in respiratory, phonatory and swallowing functions. For this reason, organ-sparing treatment and transoral surgical techniques with CO2 laser and robotic-assisted surgery have been implemented. 

A concept of interest is the attitude toward the tumor with lymph node metastasis of the head and neck of unknown origin. 

Functional rehabilitation of this type of patients is assessed. 

Finally, we will discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for these patients.
