The main purpose of these works of art was to document the daily life and experiences of prehistory. It is the set of artistic expressions produced by human cultures that inhabited the planet before the emergence of writing and history. These artistic manifestations include ritual objects, tools, dwellings, sculptures and cave paintings.

Prehistory includes different periods, from the Stone Age to the Metal Age. During the Stone Age, cave paintings in caves and shelters depicting animals and everyday scenes are prominent. In the Metal Age, cultures such as the Celtic developed, which were characterized by the use of geometric motifs and the decoration of metal objects.

During the Middle Ages, from the 4th century to the mid-15th century, Romanesque and Gothic art developed. After the Renaissance, in the 15th century, the Baroque developed, a style characterized by extravagance and exaggeration. Modern art began in the late 19th century to the present day and is characterized by experimentation and innovation in the creation of works of art.
