Loeches Yagüe, María Belén
Assistant Physician, Infectious Diseases Unit, Department of Infectious Diseases, Hospital General Universitario La Paz, Madrid
Experience
Infectious diseases have marked the academic and professional interest of Dr. María Belén Loeches Yagüe. An enthusiasm that has allowed her to develop with tenacity and perseverance her work in the Infectious Diseases Unit of one of the most prestigious hospitals in the capital of Spain.
In the field of research, Loeches Yagüe focused his thesis on the clinical-microbiological characteristics of bacteremias caused by OXA-48 carbapenamase-producing enterobacteria. This is an area that has been little studied and which allowed him to differentiate himself by obtaining evidence that bacteremias due to EPC-OXA-48 presented high mortality and that appropriate treatment (at least one active drug) increases survival in these patients in less than 72 hours.
Loeches Yagüe's clinical and scientific work has allowed her to develop as an expert in this area and to transmit her knowledge to professionals in the sector both at congresses and in other healthcare settings.
