Due to her academic background as a pharmacist, Mercedes Román Fuentes developed a great interest in the field of Quality and Safety improvement in Healthcare Institutions. This knowledge has led her to be aware of the most recent advances in the protocols and methodologies used, transferring them directly to her daily practice. 

In this way, she has developed her functions oriented to this area in the Quality Unit of the University Hospital Virgen Macarena, thus allowing to increase patient satisfaction and the improvement of clinical care processes.
