Dr. Walter Plasencia Acevedo is a specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics, backed by more than 2 decades of experience in medical practice. His academic and professional curriculum has led him to hold positions of great responsibility in reference hospitals such as the University of the Canary Islands or Hospiten Group, clinics in which he has held the management and coordination of the Prenatal Diagnosis Unit and the Fetal Medicine Unit. In addition to his degree and MIR stay, Plasencia has a Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery, for which he obtained the distinguished recognition of Outstanding Cum Laude, as well as receiving the Extraordinary Award from the University of La Laguna.  

It has also served him to reach his professional zenith the Subspecialty Training in Fetal Medicine and Surgery, which he studied at King's College University Hospital in London with an eminence of clinical practice as Dr. Kypros Nicolaides, World Leader in the promotion of this area. In addition, he has followed a broad line of research, collaborating in the writing of several scientific articles in national and international journals, as well as teaching in seminars, symposia, workshops and programs related to Gynecology and Fetal Obstetrics.

  • Director of several national and international research projects on fetal anomalies, placental anomalies, preeclampsia, preterm delivery and fetal and maternal complications during pregnancy.
