One of the architects of the genetic identification project of Christopher Columbus and his relatives is Dr. Luis Javier Martínez González, who actively contributed to this initiative of great historical repercussion. No less important are the other projects in which he has been involved based on the tracking of differences at genomic level, regulation and variations of gene expression in rare diseases and cancer.  

As head of the Genomics Unit of the Genomics and Oncology Research Center (GENYO), Martínez González applies the latest technology to achieve advances in prostate cancer, the study of environmental toxicology and pharmacogenetics.

He has more than 20 funded research studies and clinical trials to his credit. He has also contributed extensively to the scientific community through articles published in national and international journals. An excellent scientist as well as a good speaker, Martínez González has participated in congresses and has been an invited speaker at several research centers.
