Dr. Juan Manuel López-Alcorocho Sánchez is a reputed specialist and researcher with more than 20 years of experience in the field of Biotechnology and Cell Therapy. In addition, he has contributed to this area by authoring more than 50 high profile, internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, has participated in 14 projects funded by different International and National Governmental Agencies and was Principal Investigator in 9 of them. 

He has actively participated in the foundation of a Biotechnology and Cell Therapy company, as well as in the creation and start-up of a Cell Therapy Laboratory, authorized by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products for the manufacture of drugs for human use: Isolation and expansion of chondrocytes, myoblasts and mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow and adipose tissue. 

The Cell Therapy Unit has so far certified more than 140 batches of autologous chondrocytes for human application in patients with chondral lesions and has participated as a supplier of autologous myoblasts for a clinical trial.
